Suitability and planning
How do I know if I am a candidate for a hair transplant?
The most important factor is the donor area: there needs to be enough healthy hair at the back and sides. The type of hair loss, your age and your general health are also assessed. Send us your photos for a free preliminary assessment.
Is there an age limit for a hair transplant?
There is no fixed limit, but caution is usually advised before the age of 22–25, because the course of hair loss is not yet clear. See our best age for a hair transplant guide for details.
How many grafts will I need?
Graft count depends on the size of the area, the target density and your donor capacity. We can give you an approximate range from your photos. Read our how many grafts do I need page for more.
Can women have a hair transplant?
Yes, but in women the cause of hair loss must be investigated first. Very good results are achieved for a high hairline, receding temples and limited thinning. See our female hair transplant page.
I have had a transplant before — can I have another?
Depending on your donor capacity, yes. If you want to correct a previous result, read our revision hair transplant page.
Techniques
Is DHI or Sapphire FUE better?
They serve different needs. DHI excels at precise hairline work and densification, Sapphire FUE over large areas. The two are often used together. Read our FUE vs DHI comparison.
Can I have a transplant without shaving my head?
In suitable cases, yes. An unshaven hair transplant suits limited areas and implanting between existing hair.
Do you also do beard or eyebrow transplants?
Yes. We also offer beard transplants and eyebrow transplants.
What do PRP and mesotherapy do?
They are non-surgical treatments aimed at supporting weakened follicles. They do not grow new hair in bald areas, but they can help improve the quality of existing hair.
Surgery day
Does a hair transplant hurt?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. You may feel a slight sting in the first minutes while it is applied; after that, no pain is felt. See our painless hair transplant guide.
How long does the operation take?
Usually 6–8 hours, including the examination, hairline design and breaks.
Am I awake during the operation?
Yes. General anaesthesia is not used; you can watch a film, listen to music and talk to the team.
How should I prepare for surgery?
You will find our advice on alcohol, smoking, certain medication and supplements on our before your hair transplant page.
Recovery and results
When can I go back to work?
For desk jobs, usually within 2–5 days. Physically demanding jobs may need a longer break.
Why is the transplanted hair falling out?
Shedding between weeks 2 and 8 is shock loss and it is normal. The follicle stays in place and produces new hair within a few months. See our shock loss guide.
When will I see results?
New hair starts to grow around month 3, a clear difference is visible by month 6 and the final look develops within 12–18 months.
Is transplanted hair permanent?
Yes. Follicles from the donor area are resistant to hair loss. Native hair in untreated areas may continue to thin, however.
When can I exercise?
Light walking after a few days, intense exercise usually after 3–4 weeks. Stay away from pools, the sea and saunas for at least 1 month.

How many days do I need to stay in Istanbul?

No. Sending your photos on WhatsApp is enough.
Which photos should I send?
Clear photos of your hair from the front, top, both sides and back, taken in good light.
